Election nomination payment account open

Bank deposit for intending candidates in the 2017 National Election to pay their nomination fees is now available nationwide.

Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato says intending candidates can collect the deposit slips for election nomination fees at PNGEC Finance Branch at the headquarters in Port Moresby, and in their respective provincial electoral offices.

“Deposit slips for election nomination fees have already been dispatched to all the 22 provincial electoral offices and intending candidates can go to their provincial electoral offices and collect them.

“Nomination fee for the 2017 National Election is K1000,” Gamato said.

He explained that the election nomination fees deposit slip has four slips attached – the white and blue copies will be retained by the bank for banking purposes, while the pink and yellow copies will be given to candidates to take along with them to nominate.

Meanwhile, writs for the 2017 National Election will be signed and issued by the Governor General Bob Dadae next week Thursday, April 20, 2017 to signal the official commencement of the election program.

The nomination period is for seven days will close on Thursday, April 27, 2017 while the campaign period is for eight weeks which is from April 20 – June 23.

Polling period is for 14 days and begins on June 24 and ends on July 8. Writs for the 2017 National Election will be returned on or before Monday, July 24, 2017.
