Candidates petitioned Election Manager over counting venues

Fourteen out of the sixteen candidates contesting for the Yangoru-Saussia seat in East Sepik have signed a petition to move the preliminary counting to each of the four Local Level Government wards.

And among other demands asked was for the counting to start on tomorrow and not delayed.

According to Provincial Election Manager Kila Ralai, the counting will be held at Yangoru Station in East Yangoru LLG and will not be moved.

The electorate completed its polling on Friday.

Meanwhile, only one LLG ward in East Sepik Province is yet to complete polling for the 2017 National Election, which ended yesterday.

Provincial Election Manager Kila Ralai confirmed that four villagers in Tunap-Hunstein LLG in Ambunti-Dreikikir District are yet to complete polling.

Ambunti Dreikikir Returning Officer, Benjamin Gawi, confirmed with Loop PNG that four remote, isolated villages are yet to be covered by his polling teams.

Gawi said a request for an extension of polling for the areas has already been sent to the PNG Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato, a few days ago, who has indicated to approve extra days for voting.
