Candidate commit to link remote Enga village

The people of remote Paiala-Hewa LLG area in Lagaip Porgera District always walk for eight hours to Porgera for services.

The LLG inside Enga Province borders Hela, East and West Sepik Provinces.

A candidate for the Enga Provincial Seat, Robert Pati said infrastructure development will be a major policy if voted to Parliament in the 2017 National Elections.

Pati said, the plight of the Paiala-Hewa raises the question of where million pumped by the Porgera Mine and successive government have gone too.

He also challenged the people to stop tribal fighting because it’s a contributing factor hampering delivering of basic services to the area.

“When I win, I will connect all the villages in the thick jungle with road and bring them out to the outside world,” Pati said.

He said that Paiala Hewa had potential for economic benefits like agriculture, tourism, timber, fisheries, cattle and farming.

“We are not developing these resources because of no road network.”

Pati said that he would also build new infrastructure like aid posts, schools, teachers’ houses, and others non-existent in the area.

People walk eight hours from Paiala to Porgera to get basic services such as health and education including charging of mobile phones.
