Returning Officer Theodore Maia says the count for today, July 14, will finish at count 12.
“Hopefully it’s 10:30pm. We’ll see how it goes,” he said.
Referring to the delay in the morning, he said some polling officials were upset over not receiving their allowance.
“We took a few representatives to see the Central Province Election Manager, Kila Egaba, and he explained to them the delay,” he said.
Maia said counting resumed smoothly. However, some officials went out for recess at 12 noon and did not return.
But he predicts no major interference. He is determined to keep within the counting timeframe.
51 more boxes to go from a total of 69 boxes from the district.
