Yokomo have won the pre-season grand final of the Port Moresby Men’s Softball Association (POMSA), beating PNG Power 6-5 this afternoon at the Bisini Grounds.
Yokomo led comfortably for most of the match but were given a scare in the last inning when the Power boys snuck in 4 quick runs.
But Yokomo’s pitcher, Clifford Kouse, guided his side home to ensure the win.
In the preliminary finals in the morning, PNG Power edged out United Brothers 2-1 while Yokomo beat Defence 8-6.
In the third and fourth playoff, Defence defeated United Brothers 7-3.
POMSA president, Tony Daple, said the three weekends of pre-season games had gone well and is looking forward to season proper, which will start next weekend.
