Women in Business Expo brings huge interest

If you’re looking for locally handmade products made by our local PNG women and mothers, the Women In Business Expo is still underway at old Hardware Haus, Steamships compound, Waigani.

Since the opening of the Women In Business Expo Trade Centre last Thursday, young women and mothers have flown in from all over the country to come in and showcase their handmade products.

These include soaps, shampoos, hand crafted jewelry, meri blouses, bags and caps made from bilums and materials, artifacts to flower arrangements, traditionally cooked delicacies and many more.

PNG Loop caught up with Agnes Kaupa from Eastern Highlands who specialises in flower arrangements for events and occasions.

“I am only running the business but my daughter, Monica Kaupa is the founder of the business called “Green Frog Arrangements” and our flowers are flown in all the way from Goroka,” says Agnes.

Agnes has workers up in Goroka who nurture and look after the flowers for here when orders come in, the flowers are flown down by plane for her to be arranged on the same day of the occasion.

“This is so the flowers look fresh and can stand out on the actual day itself,” she adds.

Agnes says this expo has proved to be an excellent initiative for mothers and women like herself to grow their business and showcase PNG to the rest of the world.
