Westpac launches Hunters Visa Card

​Westpac PNG Ltd has recently launched a co-branded Visa Debit Card with the PNG Hunters in Port Moresby.

Westpac PNG’s Managing Director, Geoff Toone said: “This card will appeal to anyone who, like me, is a big Hunters fan and wants to assist the team to develop its players and make even bigger strides on the international rugby scene.” 

“Rugby League has a great following in PNG and the Hunters have a gained a lot of popularity since they began playing in 2014,” Toone said.  

“This new card will obviously be attractive to the countless people who love the Hunters – and through the association, we’ll show people how handy this card is for the customer as it gives you greater access to your money anytime, anywhere and even across international borders.” 

“It also gives the customer a chance to travel abroad without the hassle of carrying cash as you can still make purchases at any eftpos or ATM outlet that has the Visa logo on it.  Online purchases are also made easier by the use of this card.”

“We hope this card will entice a lot of Papua New Guineans to do away with holding and carrying large sums of money around the place.  It might be an avenue for them to learn to bank their money and still be able to access it anywhere, anytime through the use of this card,” Toone said.

Meanwhile, the Board, Management and Staff of the SP PNG Hunters had acknowledge Westpac’s foresight in making SP Hunters Visa card available to all supporters PNG wide.

To qualify for a Westpac-PNG Hunters visa debit card, you simply need to have a bank account with Westpac and be on a base salary of K20,000 per annum . 

The annual card fee is K120, and half of this goes directly to the PNG Hunters, helping with the team’s expenses.
