Westpac’s new faster safer EFTPOS terminal

Westpac has released its new generation EFTPOS terminal, which will delight shoppers with the fast and secure payment experience.

With the quickest response time of all available terminals, the new Westpac EFTPOS promises to take the stress out of shopping and improve business for retailers.

To be one of the first to use the new Westpac EFTPOS terminal, visit Shop N Stop Harbourside from 11am until 3pm on Wednesday 13 July.

Each customer who makes a purchase using the new Westpac EFTPOS terminal will receive a free sausage sizzle.

Peter Moore, CPL’s General Manager of Supermarkets said the CPL Shop N Stop business was delighted to be one of the first to carry the new generation Westpac EFTPOS terminal.

“The new terminal is so reliable and has increased our checkout service tremendously for customers and minimised delays – instead of waiting for up to 15 seconds, now transactions take less than two seconds,” Mr Moore said.

“As well, the modern features and portability of the terminal has created a significant point of difference for our Harbourside and Koki supermarkets, and we are looking forward to rolling it out to the rest of our Supermarkets in Port Moresby, and other CPL businesses, in the near future.”

Westpac says the terminal was specifically designed to offer a high level of security and have inbuilt capacity to respond to communication delays.

”The terminal offers end-to-end encryption, which is the best safeguarding of customer data available,” said Westpac’s Regional Head for South Asia and the Pacific, Greg Pawson. “And lost revenue will be a thing of the past for merchants, as anytime network connectivity becomes unavailable, the terminal makes an immediate transition to the redundancy – meaning no downtime for the business or their customers”.

Westpac’s new generation terminal was developed by the leading global provider of point of sale products, Verifone, and General Manager of Verifone Australia David Brown visited Port Moresby for the launch.

“We are so proud to be in partnership with Westpac and to have had the opportunity to adapt specifically for the PNG market the VX690 terminal used by Westpac in Australia, and in doing so overcoming the great challenges that communications outages have posed for business,” Mr Brown said.

“This terminal can accept all international and domestic cards, and is mobile – meaning restaurants, hotels and other businesses can provide better service for their customers by bringing the terminal to them”.

The new EFTPOS terminals can be found at Shop N Stop Harbourside and Shop N Stop Koki and will roll out across PNG over the coming months.
