Weapons recovered from suspects home in Lae

Police detectives raided a residence of a suspect at West Taraka and uncovered weapons believed to be used in a string of crimes in Lae.

Lae Metropolitan Police Commander Anthony Wagambie tells PNG Loop that the suspect was apprehended for breaching his bail condition by not appearing in court for the decision of his court case.

Wagambie says that he had a warrant of arrest issued by the Lae District court. He was also wanted with regards to other serious crimes.

Police discovered two factory made pistols. One a .38 revolver and the other a 9mm semi- automatic glock.

Investigators found that the glock was stolen from its licensed holder during an armed robbery at a major business house in Lae.

While police have yet to ascertain where the revolver came from, Wagambie Jnr commended his personnel adding that taking such weapons off the streets helps deter crime.
