Walk for Life dedicated to late Joe Pidik

This Sunday’s ‘Walk for Life’ will commemorate late East New Briton, Joe Pidik, who died at Port Moresby General Hospital last week after being attacked by disgruntled Mt Hagen Eagles supporters.

The attack happened after the semi-final match between Eagles and NGI Agmark Gurias.

Healthy lifestyle advocate and NCD Governor Powes Parkop urged all walkers to come in white to spread the message of zero tolerance to all forms of violence in sports in Port Moresby.

The PNG Hunters players, PNGRFL and Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko, will be among the crowd to spread the message that violence is unacceptable in any sporting code.

PNGRFL CEO Bob Cutmore and PNG Hunters and Kumuls coach Michael Marum showed their support as they turned up in today’s media announcement, beside Governor Parkop.

“At this day and age, we should not tolerate this kind of behaviour, we must not tolerate this in the future,” Parkop said.

He welcomed all city residents to part take in this Sunday walk.

The walk will start at a new time of 6.30am, and not the normal 5am start.

The normal route from Jack Pidik Park to Ela Beach will be followed.
