A fight just broke out in the Madang Provincial Government Office area between supporters for and against the Pacific Marine Industrial Zone Project.
A peaceful presentation of more than 5000 men, women and children against the project angered other supporters who claim to be landowners, instigating the fight.
Police who are aware of today’s event were on site and managed to get the situation under control.
Representatives of the Provincial Government at the scene are assuring those who have disrupted the peaceful petition presentation that they are aware and are willing to receive the petition today.
