VIDEO: US ready to give training to combat Boko Haram

The leader of a US Congressional delegation said on Tuesday that the United States is ready to provide training to Nigeria to aid its battle against Islamic extremists.

Republican Darrell Issa said Nigeria's military is not outgunned by Boko Haram, it needs training, not arms, to defeat the insurgents blamed for the deaths of thousands in three countries.

Issa spoke at a news conference after his four-person, bipartisan delegation met with President Muhammadu Buhari and military service chiefs.

The news conference was also attended by members of the campaign 'Bring Back Our Girls'.

US Congresswoman Shelia Lee highlighted the need for continued efforts to search for hundreds of girls abducted from a school in Chibok in April 2014.
