Victorian Fury unleashed on Pepes

The PNG Pepes felt the full power of the Victorian Fury side going down 64-35 tonight in the last match of the inaugural International Invitational Tri-Series in Port Moresby.

It was a shaky start from both sides in the opening minutes of the game but it was the visitors who found their rhythm first.

At the end of the first quarter, it was still anyone’s game with the score at 15-8 in favour of Victorian Fury.

Changes made by Pepes coach, Unaisi Rokoura in the second quarter bringing Tau Galewa into Wing Defence and Serina Ovia to Goal Keeper did little to stop the onslaught.

Victorian Fury shooters, Danni Phillips and Mikaela Vaughan continued to find the net easily piling on the points.

The score by half time was pushed to 30-17.

The Australian Netball League champions made things look easy as they took a 50-26 lead by the third quarter.

But the Pepes led by captain, Lua Rikis showed some fight and snuck in late points in the dying minutes to try bringing some respectability to the score line.

Victorian Fury finished the Tri-Series undefeated winning both their games beating Singapore 60-31 and then the Pepes 64-35.

The Pepes managed one win beating Singapore 53-39, and one loss to Victorian Fury.

Singapore finished winless.
