UB40 invites young generation to concert

British reggae/pop band UB40 invites its young generation of fans to the outdoor concert this Saturday night in Port Moresby.

Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey arrived on Wednesday and are excited to be performing at the Sir John Guise Stadium.

Ali said they’re expecting to see some youngsters and their families at the show.

He said the idea of doing the show at the stadium is the fact that families and teenagers can come and it’s not restricted.

“We are expecting them to know the words to our songs because today we have the young ones listening to their older brothers and sisters UB40 record collection.

“They become the next generation of UB40 fans and when they spread the music to their younger siblings, the cycle continues.

“When we first started performing we had teenagers and people up to the ages of 50 and 60 years in the audience and it has remained that way throughout our careers,” said Ali.

The band is also excited about doing their show at the stadium as it hasn’t been used before for a concert event and they would love to be the pioneers.

Fans can purchase tickets at the Waterfront, Vision City Mall ground floor stall, Stop N Shop outlets and Lamana Hotel reception.

Tickets for the outdoor stadium show have been slashed to K50 and tickets for the Gold Club show are selling at K250 arena and K350 balcony.

Organisers have announced that UB40 Gold Club show ticket holders will be able to use their tickets to attend the Sir John Guise show for free.

The public is warned to purchase tickets at the specific venues as tickets are security coded/ marked and will be thoroughly screened at the venues on the show nights.
