Tourists donate wheelchair to Angau

Foreign tourists visiting the country have shown act of kindness with donations to Angau Hospital in Lae, Morobe Province.

A Japanese World War II Bereavement Tour Group visiting PNG to pay respect to death WWII Japanese soldiers donated a wheelchair and assorted items such as caps, shirts and other valuable equipment to the hospital on Friday.

Group Tour Guide Kazuhiro Nozawa on behalf of the Tour Group said the donation was small but significant gesture that they hope will continue the good relationship Japan has with PNG.

Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr Christopher Kenyhercz said the Japanese had contributed a lot to the development of Angau Hospital and this was evident in the hospital wing that is still intact after 21 years unlike many buildings which have destroyed because of termite.
