Top investigators 'terminated' from police force

Assistant Commissioner of Police Thomas Eluh and Chief Inspector Timothy Gitua have been terminated from the police force as of today.

The two veterans have been in the forefront of major corruption cases against politicians and government departments.

In a press conference this afternoon news of their removal was relayed by former task force sweep team leader Sam Koim.

Eluh’s termination stemmed from his opposition to former police commissioner Geoffrey Vaki over the case involving the Prime Minister, while Gitua was terminated for an offence which is currently before the district court.

Koim says they have reason to believe that the decision to remove the two officers is not isolated and is tailored and coordinated to frustrate and defeat the pending cases against the Prime Minister.

“Although we do not question the commissioner’s powers to take disciplinary actions we believe that timing and circumstances under which the decisions are made is highly questionable,” he told reporters.

Eluh and Gitua say they will be seeking legal advice of their termination.

LOOP  news has asked for a confirmation of these claimed  actions from the Office of the Police Commissioner.
