Thailand to assist PIDF members

Thailand Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Thailand, Thanasak Patimapragorn discussed ways that his government can offer their assistance to Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) members.

He told members of the PIDF that climate change now affects everyone in the World and there is a need to work together.

Pacific Island Development Forum members were also given an insight of what other countries in the world are facing in their fight against climate change.

They were urged that the best way forward is to look for a common solution that will be able to address all of the current problems.

“Addressing and mitigating the impact of climate changes and one one of the greatest challenges of our time, Thailand and small island developing states can work together to mitigate the impact of this issues at the same growth of industry development,” said Patimapragorn told those attending the PIDf meeting today.

Pacific Island nation countries were urged to also take a look at how Fiji is working with all stakeholders.

“In this I’ve recognise Fiji’s climate change communities in adapting the ridge to reef concept which have the responsibility to prepare for the invisible impact of.climate change,” he said.

The good news is that Thailand is ready to offer their support if there is a need.

“We offer our Thai’s experts and volunteers to the Pacific Island countries for example the Thai-Fiji plan for action which was formulated to see a clear growth of framework for Fiji which was signed  in 2014.”

The Pacific Island Development Forum ends on Friday.
