Talasea High School set for academic year

Since the opening of the Talasea High School, it has now enrolled 391 students.

The Year 9 students totalled 211, while Year 10 classes stand at 180 students.

The school has 10 teachers and six classes each. Students from all around the Talasea Wards are attending the High School.

A new Toyota land cruiser 10 seater was purchased and handed to the School board by the President of the Talasea LLG Victor Narere.

Speaking to the Principal Michael Voiha, he commented that, the school still has to have extra classrooms for Year 11 and 12 over the next two years.

“We also need a library and laboratories for students, dormitories and teachers houses, a proper hall and mess facilities are also being planned to construct as the school progresses,” Mr Voiha said.

“We are looking at creating partnerships with all stakeholders in WNB as this is a new school.”

The school also thanked NBPOL for donation of books last year and the recent 45 books brought to the school this week. The text books and other materials donated will assist the students in their learning. Students and teachers text books were presented including other paperbacks and novels for leisure time.
