Swearing in of Women council executive deferred

The swearing in of the National Council of Women (NCW) executives has been deferred to next month.

The event was scheduled to take place yeterday (Thursday 12 Nov) at Hodava Hotel, Port Moresby but was deferred to early next month due to “certain issue’’s.

Invited guests including women representatives, officers from the Department of Community Development, a representative from the United Nations and the media were turned away after waiting for more than two hours.

NCW president Theresa Jaintong apologised and explained that the swearing in will take place next month as they need to organise a magistrate to conduct the swearing in.

NCW’s six executive members are vice president Paula Mek, treasurer Jayne Kenny, Momase regional representative Miong Kila, Southern rep Au Aruai and Highlands regional rep Shirley Launa.

The council has been operating for 40 years with 22 presidents throughout the country.
