Suspects in Seeto Kui robbery apprehended

Police in Lae managed to make numerous arrests in relation to last week’s robbery at Seeto Kui Hypermart.

On Tuesday (March 22nd) five suspects armed with guns and bushknives entered the hypermart and  made off with K26, 451.02 in cash.

The men managed to get away in a dark blue 10-seater and drove to the sea front where they got away on a waiting boat.

However, police received a tip off and picked up a suspect, believed to be an insider, from his residence.

Later that day police on a tip-off picked up eight men who were under the influence of liquor at Three-Mile.

The main suspect Wagambie Jnr says was buying beer for the group.

Meantime, on Friday (March 25th) police apprehended another man who was identified on the CCTV footage of the incident.

Investigators went to the man’s residence at Tent Siti where they found clothing that he wore during the robbery.

On Saturday (March 26th) another prime suspect was arrested along with seven other men who were in the vehicle that he was driving around in.

Wagambie says that all these suspects are now in police custody undergoing questioning.
