Sumkar District sports chairman thanks sponsors

Talidig Sports Association in Sumgilbar Local Level Government along the North Coast Road of Madang will host next years third Sumkar District Games.

This was announced by Sumkar District Sports Chairman Atis Deme while  thanking sponsors  of the second district games.

“The institution like Karkar Secondary to provide two trucks providing transportation, Langlang Primary School, Kidoka and Ilue Bangme Primary School for providing accommodation for the visiting teams and communities surrounding Kinim Station including the Technical Teams.

“The Management of Sumkar District Sports, National Alliance Party for coming on board with K20, 000 with co-sponsor Sir Arnold Amet who has also  gave some money to run this tournament,” Deme said.

Deme said this year the District has introduced one new code, rugby touch which saw only five teams taking part.

He said next year the district will introduce netball to bring girls and women into taking part actively in sports.

“Technical teams will go around in both Sumgilbar and Karkar LLG carrying out awareness and way forward on how to play netball,”

“There is no help from the District and we struggle to seek sponsors and the help we get is highly appreciated,” he said.

He challenged the people and players to go back prepare for next year games in Talidig, Sumgilbar LLG.

Meanwhile person in charge of Security Senior Constable Adam Yawing said there  was an improvement from the youths in terms of their conduct and behaviour at the games.

Senior yawing said everyone must work together to see change and challenge the youths to take sports seriously and the market for sports in the country is open and very demanding.
