Standard of rugby league improved

The standard of rugby league in the Port Moresby Rugby Football League (POMRFL) competition has greatly improved this season.

POMRFL competition director Ben Kaupa says the teams that have qualified for grand final have shown very high quality football with a lot of skills.

Kaupa said players have been exported directly from POMRFL like Katto Ottio, Yoks Bagave and Muka Kulu which shows the quality of football produced over the years.

He urged the supporters for teams playing in the grand final to watch the game and see for them how far POMRFL has developed in terms of football.

“I would like to encourage all supporters to come and watch and see the quality of football that POMRFL has produced over the years,” he said.

The grand final playoffs for the women, Under 20 and A Grade will get underway this weekend at the National Football Stadium.

The grand final matches will see Paga Panthers take on defending champions Royals in the women’s division, Brothers will battle with South in the U20 and Hohola Flies takes on Paga Panthers in the A Grade.
