Socceroos jump up the FIFA world rankings

Australia has risen sharply in the FIFA world rankings after World Cup qualifying victories against Iraq and the UAE.

The perfect start to the Road to Russia has seen the Socceroos raise 12 positions to become the 45th ranked team - which makes Ange Postecoglou's side the 2nd best team in Asia behind Iran (37th).

Japan dropped seven places to the 56th after a shock home defeat to the UAE in the first WCQ.

Argentina has retained top position from Belgium, with Brazil have climbed into the top in a tie with Colombia.
