Simbu police urged to lead by example

Simbu police have been urged to lead by example by refraining from any forms of brutality against members of the public.

Provincial Police Commander Albert Beli says he is taking a strong stand on police brutality and will not tolerate any police from Simbu who are reported to be brutal.

He says policemen and women need to understand that the uniform they wear and guns they carry do not give them more power over anybody.

“Our job is to protect lives and property. We should be welcomed and not feared,” Beli said to LOOP News.

Beli says police officers need to understand that they must first build their relationship with the public and only then will they gain confidence.
