Security guaranteed at NCD Independence Day festivities

The public in Port Moresby are rest assured that security is guaranteed at the venues where celebrations for the 41st Independence Day are taking place.

National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop said the organisers are security conscious at the venues.

NCDC has organised the Street Festival at Paga Hill ring road and the Black Brothers concert at the Sir John Guise Stadium.

Parkop said there’s police officers stationed at the ring road to ensure that people have a good time and enjoy themselves and go away with the good memories of the 41st anniversary.

The stadium will provide a high standard of security both inside and outside the venue.

Parkop is confident that the concert will be successful and people who turn up will have a good time.

He said security is paramount in most activities and events they organise so the public can rest assure that a lot of effort has been put in to ensure security.

“I’d like to believe that security won’t be an issue

“I want to trust that after 41 years our people are maturing however we have few individuals still living in the past who cause trouble.

“I’d like to believe and have trust in our people that this is the time they’ll do the right thing,” Parkop said.

Event organiser Sylvia Pascoe said the NCD police are on ground at the venues both day and night.

Pascoe is appealing to everyone to have a good time and look out for each other to enjoy the city during these celebrations.
