School gets upgraded basketball court

Bank South Pacific has lent a helping hand to the Papua New Guinea Education Institute (PNGEI) to refurbish their run down basketball court.

Students and staff can now enjoy a decent game of basketball.

The institute’s deputy director, Caroline Yariyari, thanked BSP for the effort and said teacher education was not confined to classrooms, but also extends to extra curricula activities, such as sports.

The project, completed by the BSP Gordon Premium Centre team, took four weeks to complete and involved staff doing  general cleaning, patching and painting the concrete floor, painting hoops and boards.

BSP branches throughout PNG will deliver 39 community projects, as part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility, in 2015.
