Samb puts funds to revive services in Goilala

Fane in the Goilala District will slowly take shape like its glory days and locals are embracing all opportunities coming in.

Goilala Member William Samb was on ground over the weekend to talk with the people regarding initiatives to revive services in the area.

He presented K30,000 cash to the Auga-Dilava community to build a classroom and teachers houses.

“Time is of essence and we cannot prolong the denial of our children from education,” he said, when presenting the money to community leaders.

He told the people to use the available resources referring to materials from the bush to renovate two classrooms, build a new grade three classroom and two teacher’s houses.

Classes should begin in 2017  school year.

Samb also brought an architect along on the trip to have a look at the deteriorating house of the local Catholic priest, built in the colonial time.

The architect will design an exact copy of the house and give an estimate cost for renovations.

Samb plans on carrying out a serious fundraising drive to raise funds for work on the building.

He also said there are funds available for health centre in the area and is waiting for a confirmation on the total cost.

In the meantime, the partnership of the District Development Authority and Rural Airstrips has seen rundown airstrips taking shape.

In plan are Ononge, Woitape and Fane airstrips and Samb has called for the support of the community.

Other initiatives already in place are the potato farming and bulb onion projects.

These, he said, are signs of positivity in his district; a district long been neglected.
