Ryan Pini eyes World Short Course championships

It’s not over yet for Papua New Guinea’s super fish Ryan Pini following the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2015 Pacific Games.

Pini will be looking at participating at the World Championship Short Course event later this year in Canada.

The 13th FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) will be held from December 6–11 at Windsor in Ontario, Canada.

These championships will feature swimming events in a 25-metre (short-course) pool.

Pini just represented PNG at the Rio Olympics swimming in the 100m butterfly event.

The 3-time Olympic swimmer missed out on qualifying for the 100m butterfly finals clocking in at 53.24 sec in his heat, finishing outside the top 16 to qualify.

Pini is currently ranked 30 in the world in the Men’s 100m butterfly with his current time of 53.24 sec.

The 34-year-old said he will keep up with his swimming.

“At the moment my 50 butterfly is ranked very well, an event they don't have at Olympics so I would love to improve on that some more,” he said.

Pini returns to PNG at the end of the month.
