Ruth to finally get help

Victim of domestic violence Ruth Apinas will finally receive help following years of abuse from her husband.

The coordinator of the Family and Sexual Violence Unit (FSVU), Chief Inspector David Kila, has agreed to meet with her tomorrow (Tuesday).

The mother of three thanked Loop PNG for the support and is grateful that she will finally receive the help she needs.

Ruth told Loop how she lived through “hell” for ten years. In one instance, a bottle was smashed on the back of her head and in a separate incident; a wine glassed was whammed in her face, just missing her eyes.

She told Loop the abuses were reported 13 times with the Hohola and Boroko police stations but nothing was done to address it.

A restraining order was also set aside, allegedly by the family court in Port Moresby, only two months after she obtained it.

She said that since her story was published, her family and friends have contacted her and are very happy that she has finally spoken out.
