RSPCA to host second dog show

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) of PNG will be hosting its second dog show on Saturday June 11, 2016.

RSPCA is encouraging pet owners (for those who haven’t already) to start training their beloved pet doggies for the categories of dog obedience and smartest dog trick.

“Our ‘biggest dog in Port Moresby’ and ‘smallest dog in Port Moresby’ categories will also be included in this year’s dog show.”

There will also be another drawing competition for primary school-aged students (7 – 16 years of age).

Similar to last year’s competition, the theme is about the basic needs of all animals.

The RSPCA promotes these needs as the five basic freedoms for all creatures, great and small.

“Our education program highlights the five basic freedoms through our two lessons on (1) responsible pet ownership and (2) wildlife conservation. Participating students must aim to have drawings that depict the five (5) basic freedoms.”

This year’s dog show will be supported by Pedigree Pal, Waterfront Foodworld, LegendFM, Port Moresby Nature Park and Dulux, who were all major supporters of the RSPCA’s inaugural dog show.

“Our supporters believe in our mission to prevent cruelty to animals through community education and promoting and providing animal care and protection.”

Registration opens on Monday April 4, 2016 and application forms will be available at the RSPCA Vet Clinic, Waterfront Foodworld and primary schools throughout the National Capital District.
