Rihanna shines in diamonds, gems and jewels at MTV VMAs

The MTV Video Music Awards is a grand stage not only for great performances and occasional conflict, but for hard-core fashion and style.

For the 2016 version held at Madison Square Graden on Sunday, there were plenty of outstanding performances but arguably the best of them of all was Rihanna, who mounted a tour de force, appearing on stage four times, including opening and closing the event.

For every performance there was a new outfit and complimenting all of the looks were jewels.

The jewelry industry loves Rihanna because she supports and promotes many designers, from the big brands to lesser known independents.

The VMAs were no different as Rihanna showcased her versatility as a performer and as an international fashion icon, shining in diamonds, gems and jewels throughout the night.

Among the many high points were the following:

For her first performance of “Don’t Stop the Music,” “We Found Love” and “Where Have You Been,” she wore a diamond necklace from the diamond jewelry brand, Hearts on Fire, and ruby rings from Paris jewelry designer, Lydia Courteille.

For her next three-son medley, the 28-year-old singer performed “Rude Boy,” “What’s My Name” and “Work” while adorned in Harry Kotlar diamond earrings and a Lydia Courteille tsavorite and green tourmaline ring and a 36mm Chopard timepiece featuring 21.09-carats of diamonds set in 18k white gold from the “L’Heure Du Diamant” collection.
