Residents hail upkeep of war cemetery

A dawn service was held early this morning up at the Bomana War Cemetery to commemorate the Australian and New Zealand soldiers that had fallen during WWII.

The Australian Government Department of Veteran Affairs has assisted the Port Moresby sub branch and the Australian High Commission in the official ANZAC Day Dawn Service, which was open to the general public to observe and pay their respects.

Port Moresby residents who attended the service said the cemetery was beautiful and very much well-prepared for the day.

They commended the grounds men, caretaker and gardeners who worked around the clock just to keep the cemetery clean and beautiful every day for the public and tourists who visit to pay their respects to the WWII heroes.
