Ramu NiCo Attends DWU Open Day

The only nickel/cobalt mine developer in PNG, Ramu NiCo Management (MCC)Ltd fulfilled its corporate responsibility to the Madang community by staging its display at the Divine Word University Open Day last Sunday, May 1。

A team from the company comprising Corporate Office, Health, Safety and Environment, Community Affairs and Training section set up a stall to share knowledge about the company to the general public who attended the DWU Open.

Many students and academics from various faculties of the DWU visited the stall to get a glimpse of Ramu NiCo and also collect various literature such as the company’s newsletter Ramu Garamut。

The HSE officers, namely Steven Opur and Elizah Kamane explained to the primary school students who visited the stall on the various process starting from the primary mining of the ore at the Kurumbukari Mine and the 135 kilometre Pipeline to the processing facility at Basamuk Refinery.

A number of primary school teachers visited the stall to seek information on the tailings disposal, where the HSE officers explained to them Ramu NiCo’s deep sea tailings placement (DSTP).

A team from Ramu NiCo’s Corporate Office made a brief visit to the various displays at the open day. These included the General Manager of the Corporate Office, Vincent Wu and the DGM, Charlie Hu, who were impressed with the visit to the stall where different species of PNG insects were displayed.

Generally, Ramu NiCo lived up to its slogan as “One Ramu NiCo, One Community”to participate at the 2016 DWU Open Day.
