Public encouraged to witness launch of FIFA program

The public has been encouraged to head down to the Sir John Guise Stadium this weekend to witness the launch of the FIFA ‘Live Your Goals’ program that aims to promote increased female participation in football.

Chief executive officer of the local organising committee, Seamus Marten, said it would be great to see the residents of Port Moresby this Sunday.

“The U-20 Women’s World Cup is going to be hosted in Port Moresby so we want the residents of Port Moresby to be actively involved in the planned activities to build the excitement in the lead up to November,” said Marten.

The launch will also commence with the Walk for Life, starting at the old Sea Park at Ela Beach then along the Poreporena Freeway and down Waigani Drive to the Sir John Guise Stadium where the launch will be held.

The two-hour event will involve 200 girls between the age group of 6-12 from different schools. They will participate in learning basic football techniques from female coaches and female football players.
