PPL expat manager seeks to be put back on payroll

Terminated PNG Power Board Executive Director John Mangos is seeking to be put back on the payroll of PPL through an urgent application that was filed at the National Court.

Mangos’  lawyers appeared before acting Judge Danjo Koeget this morning seeking to move the motion that was objected to by counsel  representing PNG Power and the PPL Board members who are the first and second defendants respectively.

Counsel representing PPL moved for an adjournment to late February while he seeks instructions from the board members who are currently on vacation.

Counsel for Mangos, Greg Sheppard said while Mangos was terminated as the Executive Director of PPL, he remains a member of the board.

He proposed a short interim basis to put Mangos back on the payroll while they await the PPL board members to return to work and give instructions to their in-house lawyers.

This proposal was also opposed by PPL counsels who suggested a week adjournment instead to seek instructions from the board members.

The application is adjourned to January 5, 2016.
