POM children enjoy first movie outing

A group of Port Moresby children recently enjoyed their first movie theatre experience, thanks to Digicel Play and Paradise Cinemas.

The 106 students and teachers from Kopkop College Early Childhood Learning Centre were treated to a premiere screening of Warner Animation Group’s new 3D computer-animated film Storks. The adventure comedy film is about storks delivering babies to families.

The movie event, which included a ticket, popcorn and drink combo deal for every participant, was valued at K800 and hosted in conjunction with Digicel Play’s children’s channel Boomerang, which is a Warner-affiliated channel.

Digicel Play CEO Nico Meyer said he was pleased Digicel Play was able to treat the students with this exciting first-time experience.

“It’s wonderful Digicel Play was able to be there for such a big milestone in these children’s lives – attending your first movie at a cinema is certainly a memory most people treasure their whole lives,” he said.

“We’re so happy the children had such a great outing to the movies and we look forward to providing this exciting opportunity to more schools in Port Moresby as part of Digicel Play’s school program.”

Digicel Play’s Boomerang channel broadcasts a variety of entertaining favourite children’s shows including The Tom and Jerry Show, Thomas and Friends, Shaun the Sheep and The Powerpuff Girls.

Boomerang is a channel on Digicel Play’s ‘Supa’ package. Digicel Play’s other children’s channels include Nickelodeon, HBO Family and Zoo Moo.
