Police have dispersed the Unagi oval protest crowd and bashed some protestors who started taking pictures of them.

In a confrontation that lasted ten minutes the police removed banners and told protest leader  Noel Anjo and his protesters to leave the gathering which has been deemed as illegal.

An agitated Anjo told reporters  after the scuffle that “this is far from over’’ as he and his organisers will regroup and start on “plan B’’ of their dispute.

For now the crowds have gone as a lone Mobile squad’s cars guard the field to stop opportunists gathering.
