PNG will be strong but we are ready: Rarua

Vanuatu Spirit 17s head coach Joel Rarua says Papua New Guinea will be very strong against his girls but they are ready for the challenge.

The Spirit’s first match in the OFC Woman’s U17 competition in Cook Islands is against Papua New Guinea on Thursday at CIFA Academy in Rarotonga.

“We all know that woman’s football in Papua New Guinea is strong and to play against them on Thursday will be tough.” Said Joel Rarua.

“My players have been thinking about this important match and we will be ready to meet our wantoks.”
“Our main objective at the moment is to reach the semifinal of the competition and I fully trust my players that we will make it to the second round.” he said.

Vanuatu Spirit 17s girls couldn’t fly out last Sunday to Cook Islands because of a visa problem but the team flew out this morning via New Zealand.

They should arrive in Cook Islands this afternoon.
