PM to make statement on Condom Saga

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill says he will make a major statement on recent calls for the government especially the police force to deal with cases of brutality by police officers.

This follows worldwide reporting of the police man who forced a young woman to swallow condoms at the Boroko police station in Port Moresby.

O’Neill says this statement will be part of his New Year Message.

Meantime, Police Minister Robert Atiyafa could not be reached for his reaction as the Police Minister.

Plans are being made for a major protest against police brutality and violence against women.

Groups online are urging those online to come together in solidarity for the protest.

The mobile phone video recording of the woman being forced to swallow condoms went viral and was reported on news websites in the United Kingdom, Australia and other parts of the world.

Police are said to have identified the police man involved and arrests will soon follow.
