Patel excited ahead of WCLC fixtures

Head Coach of the Hebou PNG Barramundis, Dipak Patel says the four day match this week was the ideal preparation for the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cricket League Championship WCLC fixtures against Namibia this month.

Patel added he was excited ahead of the two WCLC fixtures that will start tomorrow.

Both 50 over matches will be played at Amini Park in Port Moresby on the 21st and 23rd.

“The Barras are going really well. The convincing win adds to their confidence.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the result and particular the way we  were able to force the win within the four days.

“The pitch played slow, low and very flat. We felt it was going to be hard to get 10 wickets in the last innings,” Patel said.

Assad Vala, Vani Morea and other batsman laid the foundation. The bowlers must take the credit in taking the twenty wickets we required to get the outright win and points, “said Patel.

Patel said he knows the ICC WCLC Round 4 matches against Namibia is going to be a tough affair.

]“It will be a totally different challenge for the Barras. We’ll train appropriately today and make sure our strategies and plans are well rehearsed and executed.

“The guys love playing one-day cricket and particularly playing in front of their families and CPNG loyal fans. The Barra’s are hoping we get a large crowd to get behind them over the two games,” said Patel.
