Paga Panthers beat Magani 12-16

In today’s brilliant A Grade rugby league match in the Port Moresby Rugby League competition, Paga Panthers edged out Magani in a nail-biting victory.

With both teams scoring a try each in the first, Paga took the lead with a successful conversion, leading Maganis 6-4 at half-time.

In the second half, the Pagas added two more tries to further their lead to a 16-4 get away before the Maganis retaliated.

With only 13 minutes remaining before the buzzer, Maganis made their return with a stunning set play from the team that sent Junior Amos gliding in through the corner post to score. This narrowed the margin to 8-16.

The game grew physical in the last 5 minutes and the Maganis struck again, forcing an error at their 30 metre half and quickly rucking the ball back into Paga’s 40 metre line.

It was then when fullback Gilespy David bulleted through the Paga’s opening defense once again with a 25-metre sprint. He crossed over the try line, grounding the ball to further reduce the margin.

Unfortunately, Magani fell short by four points at the sound of the buzzer to the strong Paga Panthers side; 12-16.
