Pacific Balance Fund helps LCPNG with K15,000

The Pacific Balanced Fund (PBF) under MTSL this morning presented a cheque of K15, 000 in partnership with the National Development Bank to Life Care PNG.

This is to go for the hosting of the Life Care PNG 2nd Annual Charity fundraising Dinner this year.

Life Care PNG and NGO set up by Colin Pake looks after less fortunate children either because they are orphaned or those who have been brought of the street.

“Such is the sight today of these less fortunate children running the streets, simply because they are forced to fend for themselves lacking care and attention,” says Melanesian Trustee Services Limited General Manager- Corporate Affairs and Governance Lawrence Stephens.

Stephens says that last year, a child of Life Care PNG was hit by a vehicle while on his way to school and upon hearing the sad new, they were prompted to give their assistance in any way to ensure that these children also feel that care and attention is given from afar.

The support given by MTSL last year was used then to purchase a 15-seater bus to be used as transportation for the  children of Life Care PNG.

Director and founder of Life Care PNG Colin Pake says the program was piloted two years ago and the centre is all about caring for vulnerable and unfortunate children in our urban centres in Papua New Guinea.

Pake says one of many programs they have going on is the “Strongim Pikinini Education Program” which is to help the children to have some form of basic education skills like reading and writing and there is other program is called “Family Home Care” of which kids are given food and accommodation in a family environment.

Pakes adds that currently, the Family Home Care is accommodating 24 kids of which most of them have basic form of education and are now attending school.

This year, Life Care PNG wants the educational program the “Strongim Pikinini Education Program” to go into full swing this year targeting street kids with the mobile education program.

“Education is the most important thing you can do with your life and we hope that by coming on board as yet again the platinum sponsors under our community benefit scheme, by 2017, the mobile school program can be introduced by the Life Care ONG Team,” Stephens says.

Stephens adds that by sponsoring this event, our reach will go out to the 13, 000 unverified unit holders of Pacific Balance Fund so that they may come forward and claim their investment.

“Pacific Balance Fund is a fund for the people of Papua New Guinea and if education is a tool that can change the mindset of people, let’s invest in this worthy cause for the future of our children,” says Stephens.
