The Opposition have challenged the Prime Minister Peter O'Neill to test his number of MPs in the floor of Parliament through the vote of no-confidence.
In a media conference this morning Opposition deputy leader Sam Basil make this call after the Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare denied that he had seconded the Opposition's latest no-confidence motion against O'Neill.
“If O'Neill claims that he has the numbers, all he needs to do is accept the motion and we test it on the floor,” Basil said.
He said once the Opposition is ‘flat out’ on the floor, by that process than the Opposition will accept that.
Basil claimed that the MPS are just pretending to be with the government.
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Don Polye issued the same challenge to the Prime Minister challenging him to prove it on the floor.
The Opposition filed a notice of motion on Tuesday to move a vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister Peter O'Neill.
The Parliamentary Privileges Committee met on Wednesday to deliberate on the notice and will give their response today.
