Omate's new smartwatch makes phone calls

Omate is having another crack at smartwatches and its latest offering sounds promising, running Android Lollipop and coming with phone-call functionality.

The TrueSmart+ comes with WiFi, 2G, 3G and a SIM card slot to handle all of your communication needs on its 320x320-resolution 1.54-inch screen.

The wearable will be released in October or November priced at $169 (£109) and will arrive on the market alongside the budget-friendly TrueSmart-i.

The $149 (£96) TrueSmart-i takes things down a notch with Android 4.4 on board and a 240x240 display, but comes with the same screen size and rubber straps.

"Thanks to our Kickstarter backers two years ago, we designed and led the true concept of a standalone smartwatch that can match the capabilities of an Android smartphone," said Omate in a statement.

"Today, people are still amazed by the advanced capabilities of the original TrueSmart compared to the other smartwatches available in the market."

Omate is opening up pre-orders for its new smartwatches on September 22.
