Northwest communities in NCD praised

The Northwest community have being praised for their support and participation in the community sports program in the district.

North West electoral project officer Angus Ali, today on behalf of the Minister for Health and HIV/AIDS, and the Member for Moresby Northwest Michael Malabag praised them during the presentation of awards at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Port Moresby.

Ali said: “We are grateful for the wonderful four months participation in the program that saw many and reignite the sportsmen and women we once had back in our communities.

“This program with your participation has achieved a milestone in our communities by changing the attitude and behavior of our youths from an alcohol or drug addict to a dedicated sports person and also from a gambling husband or wife to a role model mother and father in the communities,” Ali said.

Moreover, the program aims to change the communities from a notorious looking community to a resilient and livable community, safe and just for women youth and children.

“More so, it will help you excel to be better players and become respectful citizens and enhance you become champions in your own communities to sheer your determination, perseverance dedication and hard work in whatever you are doing either employed or unemployed.”

“With that, we have engaged a total of 153 unemployed men, women and youth including volunteers during the program and this is what we want to encourage in communities,” Ali said.

However, with the young individuals who have received TVET scholarship as part of the presentation was encouraged to make use of the opportunity and serve to serve them in the future.
