New vehicles to help police do jobs

Morobe Provincial Police Commander Chief Superintendent Kaiglo Ambane has thanked the police headquarters at Port Moresby for new vehicles that have been supplied to his province.

He said his province had been without sufficient police vehicles for almost a decade and the three new vehicles would be a relief to their policing efforts in the province.

"All our vehicles were purchased during the National Elections in 2002 and 2007. That was a long time ago. Most of those vehicles have gone off the road. We are walking on the streets and seeking help.

"Our prayers have been answered and I would simply like to thank our top management at the Police Headquarters," he said.

Commander Ambane said this when he officially welcomed the three new Toyota 10 seater vehicles at the Provincial Police Headquarters (PPHQ) at Lae today.

He said Morobe  uses all forms of transport and needs the support of all stakeholders to ensure that their policing efforts are delivered.

These three vehicles were given to the  rural co-ordinator, Rural Patrol Unit and Rural CID, all based at the provincial police HQ.

He said vehicles had been an issue in the past and these vehicles were truly 'a blessing in disguise.'

"We have seen people from the rural areas at our provincial police HQ every working day.  This is because we don't reach them. This will be an issue of the past. With these vehicles, we will be able to deliver our policing efforts," he said.

These vehicles were blessed by the Divisional Chaplain Chief Inspector Reverend Kingsford Tira before the vehicle keys were handed over to those sections.
