New spacious DWU supermarket to be opened soon

The community at Madang’s Divine Word University will soon be enjoying the pleasure of shopping in a brand new and spacious supermarket right in the heart of the campus when it opens its doors.

The new supermarket built at the corner of Hilltop Street and Integrity Drive adds to the new infrastructure development that’s boosting the convenience of the student population and the academic staff.

A DWU Finance staff, Raphael Bahin told PNG Loop that construction work on the new supermarket commenced last year and was expected to be completed early this year. However, materials to do finishing touches did not arrive on time due to transportation problems, particularly caused by the bad road and damaged bridge along the Madang-Lae highway.

Bahin could not disclose the cost of the construction, however, mentioned that work should be completed soon.

The new  DWU supermarket would certainly relieve a smaller Diwai Mart, which stands a few metres opposite.

Many Madang residents enjoy shopping at the Diwai Mart for convenience over the years because it is safer and offers variety of services, including a bakery which serves hot pastries to customers.

Furthermore, Diwai Mart also houses two automatic teller-machines (ATM) which serve customers in campus as well as Madang residents.
