New dish to help Digicel play users

Digicel Playbox customer’s problems will now be solved after Digicel PNG installed two dishes to cater for the problem faced by Playbox subscribers.

The two new dishes including one portable and the other a permanent satellite dish are more powerful than the previous dishes.

The 60cm portable dish now half the size of the previous one is much more convenient for local subscribers to purchase and install.

For the newly installed 7.8m Satellite dish which will replace the 3m dish, it will help cover the whole of the Pacific and hence, that satellite will make PNG become a broadcast hub for the Pacific.

“Currently when we have a lot of rain the signal gets attenuated by the rain and you lose the signal, however, by using this new Satellite dish we will reduce the number of signal outages like before,” says the Digicel Play Chief Technical Officer Alan Constant.

“The biggest advantage is that it minimizes the outages of signal for the subscribers as the amount of signal that will be sent through to the satellite from the dish be much stronger and will penetrate through the rain to reach,” Constant said.

Adding that there are more advantage with this new satellite dish installation as it allows Digicel to expand the services not only in broadcasting but also the internet excess.

Moreover, it helps Digicel play builds the contents of its programs and increase the number of channels in the country and also through to the Pacific.
