NAQIA Acting Managing Director held at fraud

One more senior Public Servant was taken in by Fraud officers for questioning in Port Moresby today.

Acting NAQIA head, Joel Alu is accused of double dipping his vehicle privileges with the Department of Agriculture and Livestock.

Director Fraud squad, Mathew Damaru told LOOP PNG, Alu is dipping into his vehicle allowance of over K64,000 while using a NAQIA provided vehicle.

Damaru said this means he is getting a total vehicle allowance in excess of almost K145,000 (K144,916.35)

Alu is alleged to have been paid a double salary on four occasions totalling K44,357.59

Serious questions were raised over a K30,000 payment made to his account by the Livestock Development Corporation, the same company implicated in the Tiaba Abattoir at 17 mile.

For now Damaru says investigators will need to go over all the allegations with Alu to determine next course of action.
