Mom accused of tossing newborn girl had baby son die earlier

Prosecutors in New York say a woman charged this week with tossing her newborn daughter to her death from a seventh-story window had an infant son die seven years ago.

The Westchester County district attorney's office said Wednesday that authorities have reopened the investigation into the 2008 death of Jennifer Berry's 2 1/2-week-old son.

In that case, she brought the boy to a hospital at least once before he was found dead in a basement of her home.

An autopsy determined he died of natural causes related to sudden infant death syndrome.

Berry is facing murder charges in the death Monday of her newborn daughter. Authorities say the girl died of blunt injuries from the fall.

Berry's attorney didn't return a call for comment.
